Samsung Introduces AnyCall Cell Phone

Samsung's new cell phone looks like a skinny iPhone.

Samsung's new Anycall cell phone is an iPhone-esque device in a skinnier package.

The phone is being launched in South Korea Tuesday. It has a 3.2" wide touchscreen display, 22 different kinds of vibration built into the phone (?), a 2 megapixel digital camera, Internet browser, Bluetooth 2.0, and terrestrial digital TV reception.

The touchscreen display also provide haptic feedback - info transmitted via touch when certain phone functions are used. This adds simulated clicks when functions like the volume control is used.

The phone will cost between $700 - $800, and there is no info on whether the phone will reach the states.

World's Lightest Cellphone from modu

Just 72.1 x 37.6 x 7.8mm in dimension...that's even smaller than a credit card!

The Guinness World Record for world's lightest mobile phone has been awarded to modu which is designed by Israeli company of the same name. The modu mobile handset weighs in just 40.1g (1.41 oz) with dimesnsions of 72.1 mm (2.8 inches) x 37.6 mm (1.4 inches) x 7.8 mm (0.3 inches). Believe it!

modu first showcased this innovative mobile phone at Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, Spain) earlier this year. modu also happens to be world's first modular mobile phone, supported by a variety of ecosystem partners.

It's a tiny, sleek and highly sophisticated mobile phone that is fully functional. It doesn't compromise on key features like call, SMS and audio playback. 16GB Samsung P2 Now Available

The rumored 16GB Samsung P2 mp3/pmp is now available from Best Buy Canada.

The new player has double the capacity of the current US version. The functionality appears to be the same, however, and it still sports the 3" touchscreen on a black, sleek body.

It is priced at $370 canadian dollars with a $40 discount. When it will be available in the US is unknown.

Motorola MING A1800 is Three Phones in One

MySpace Mobile at Verizon

MySpace users can now enter their profiles and get in touch with the others in the social networking world directly from their cell phones supporting Mobile Web 2.0.

The access is available for Verizon Wireless customers and they can simply enter the Connect section on the home scree with no need to type an URL.

With MySpace on your mobile you can edit your profile, add friends, post comments or blogs, read and send messages, view photo albums, search for friends, and soon, with the condition to be a Mobile Web 2.0 subscriber and with no additional costs.

In January I’ve presented you the world’s first Linux-based mobile phone priced under $100 but back then we didn’t have all the specifications as it was following to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February.

So now we have all the details about Purple Magic cell phone.

It is a sleek clamshell measuring just 92 x 50 x 15.2 mm at a weight of 95 grams and allows you to make video calls, listen to the music, browse the Internet at high speeds via 3G, stream videos, take pictures, record voice memos, download games, and connect with other Bluetooth-enabled devices for file transfer.

The phone sports a 320 × 240 pixel display and runs on a NXP 7210 single core chipset at 208 MHz speeds, has 64MB RAM memory, 128MB Flash memory from which 96MB are available for the user, and you can talk on it for up to 8.5 hours.

Yet another expensive handset model designed for luxury lovers by Kansai Yamamoto, a famous Japanese designer who liked to call its creation the Cosmic Shiner.

Based on Toshiba’s FanFun 815T phone, the Kansai Yamamoto version will be available in a limited edition consisting of just 1,000 units for sale starting April.

Those that will want to purchase it will first have to obtain an invitation and get the unique ID code from April’s Seven Hills magazine.
More than that, the model will cost them $4,000 but it will bring with a Prestige Gold membership, a lacquer box made by hand, and special free services for one year.

It costs much because it sports several tiny diamonds for a special decoration and an elegant look.

Too bad it will be available only in Japan!

This month, SoftBank will release on the Japan market its latest Smartphone with 3G support called 922SH.

This cell phone sports a 3.5-inch display, a full 9.9 mm QWERTY keyboard, and is equipped with special features that improve the user’s Internet experience.

So it lets you send e-mails, update your blog if you have one or your social network profile, chat via Instant Messaging, and you can do these in the same time on the large split-screen display with a high contrast ratio of 2000:1 and VGA resolution.

Its external 1.2-inch OLED display is specially designed for showing the user when an e-mail has arrived or when there is an incoming call, when the cell phone is closed.

On 28 March SoftBank 922SH slider will come in Bronze, Pearl White and Pink Pearl colors at a price unknown yet.

Nokia N98 Concept

I don’t know why it’s called Nokia N98 and not N97 to follow the famous N96 model highly expected to come out this summer, but anyway this one here is just a phone concept created in Photoshop or some similar program and it appeared on Flick.

In the view of the person that made the image, N98 would feature first a full touch-sensitive interface, then a built-in 7.2MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom, video recorder at 30 frames per second and 720 x 576 pixel resolution, and the display would measure 3.5 inches, being capable to render16.7 million colors in 640 x 480 pixel resolution.

The GPS is not missing, same as the Symbian S70 operating system, The Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and Nokia PC Suite, and it would integrate a powerful 3D graphics card from NVIDIA.In front there would be a 640 x 480pixel camera for video calling.

People like to dream but from these unreal visions cool new products come alive.

Nokia Aeon Imitation

Remember the famous Nokia Aeon cell phone concept that many of you were crazy about back in 2007?

I can say I have a surprise for you but not necessarily in the good way.

It seems that HongKong Gofar Limited from China has developed a very similar phone model and called it exactly like the Nokia’s concept. You can see the product page here.

I was searching on the web for some new cell phone concepts and this is what I’ve found.

The so called Touch-Sensitive Keys Cellphone with Bluetooth W168 looks very similar with the Nokia Aeon and after some research I found the Chinese model manufacturer’s website.

The Aeon W168 costs $109.44 starting from three units per purchase and supports GSM 900/1800 MHz bands only.

It sports a 2.2-inch TFT display of 26K colors, has a built-in 2MP camera, calendar, calculator, alarm clock, Bluetooth, T-Flash card support, and its battery lasts up to 760 minutes of talking.
The dimensions are 106 × 48 × 14 mm at 510 grams weight.

One interesting characteristic of the Aeon imitation is the Dual SIM support, but besides that it lets you play music and movies.

LG KF510 Comes in April

We wrote about it before the Mobile World Congress promising some good news after the showcasing of LG’s new KF510 handset and here you have it.

LG-KF510 sports a 10.9 mm-slim, slider-type design with attractive color gradations combined in Stardust Dark Gray and Sunset Red on the metal finish, and a bright touchpad with LED lights to match the Interactive Touch Lighting input system for easy navigation through the animated multifunction menu.

It integrates a 3MP camera with flash, image stabilizer, video recording capability, music player with lists arrangement capability, a long lasting battery with power saver thanks to the Auto Luminance Control technology which adjusts itself to the brightness of the LED screen.

The display is a 256K color of 2.2 inches, and the internal phone’s memory is of just 16MB, with the option to add a microSD card.

Also, there is no 3G support but you have EDGE and GPRS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, e-mail, Xhtml browsing, FM radio, Organizer and voice memo.

Next month, the LG-KF510 will be available for you all at mobile retailers in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa.

BlackBerry 8820 T-Mobile

Last summer we had no information about the release date and full specification list of the BlackBerry 8820, but now T-Mobile announced it is providing the advanced handset in US for $350.

From the leaked information we had last year, we knew that BlackBerry 8820 will feature Wi-Fi, GPS, EDGE, Bluetooth, card slot and no 3G.

The new information specify the T-Mobile’s HotSpot@Home service support which gives the users access to unlimited and free phone calls over the Wi-Fi connectivity, a full QWERTY keyboard, the QVGA display type, music player, and support for 32GB memory cards or 8GB microSD cards.

With the new BlackBerry 8820 you can e-mail your friends, browse the Internet with fast speeds, chat via Instant Messaging on AOL, Yahoo!, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, and Google Talk, and synchronize your calendar with Outlook wirelessly.

The handset measures 114 x 66 x 14 mm with a weight of 134 grams and its 65K color display has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The internal memory is of 64MB but there is no camera integrated.

Though, it comes with Organizer, Document Viewer for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Corel WordPerfect and Adobe PDF, handfree, voice dial, To-Do list, and a battery that lasts up to five hours.

Motorola Z9

A cell phone that Motorola has worked on to improve it is the Z9 RAZR, which we’ve heard about last summer.

Now finally it seems that we have the full specification list for the phone model that will be released later this year, as we are just assuming, because on Motorola’s official website we’ve found no information regarding this.

From this published picture it looks like the Z9 RAZR will feature a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a built-in 2MP camera with no less than 8x digital zoom and flash, a memory of up to 8GB reached via a microSD card, USB 2.0 connectivity, special music keys for when the phone’s in music mode, and all this in a cool MOTORAZR design with sliding keypad, illuminated navigation disk, a mirror-like finish, soft-touch feel, glass and metal.

The sound quality is very important for a music phone so Motorola used the CrystalTalk technology with noise-reduction for quality audio required to play the greatest hits in Windows Media Player 11.

Z9 allows you to capture and send live videos, check GPS maps using the turn-by-turn driving directions, browse the Internet with Opera 8 for the latest news in your interest domain, and download stuff at high speeds thanks to the HSDPA and 3G connectivity support.

Also, Motorola recommends you to accessorize it with a Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth stereo headphones or the Motopure H12 Universal Bluetooth Headset.

LG LH2300

Optimized for Internet use, the LG LH2300 Touch Web cell phone is to be released in Korea during April at a price around $618, in Navy Blue and Grape Wine housing colors.

We can assume that Europe and US might follow Korea in the future, to receive this special handset sporting a 3-inch touch-sensitive display of 800 x 480 pixel resolution and 26 million colors.

With a display conceived by Sharp, LG LH2300 provides the unique Hello user interface through which you can set your contacts’ data in icons accessible using drag-and-drop.

For example, to write an SMS you have to drag a contact on the phone’s desktop and drop the message onto the person’s name.

The handset is equipped for pictures with a built-in 3MP camera with autofocus, image stabilizer and face detection, a feature encountered mostly in digital cameras and camera phones.

Symbian Limited, the creator of the leading mobile operating system for Smartphone announced the releasing of FOMA NM705i at NTT DoCoMo in Japan.

The mobile candybar-like handset made by Nokia comes in a light form factor with an orange housing and support for international roaming.

Running on S60 software on Symbian operating system, FOMA NM705i is the lightest model from this series at 89 gra6ms measuring 105 x 46 x 15 mm.

It is not a high-end mobile phone but it comes with a very useful Japanese-English/English-Japanese dictionary, FM radio, and a built-in 2MP camera with 4x digital zoom.

iPhone 2

A new Apple patent application called Dual sided trackpad appeared on the Internet and it seems to describe the future iPhone model, an iPhone 2.0, which looks better than the actual model if we look at its design: a clamshell.

Of course, the classic candybar concept phone is one everyone’s taste but this new drawings show something more modern and cooler, still keeping the known iPhone functions and technologies.

The designer wanted to separate the capacitive touch sensor array from the display creating two different units practically, one being the transparent panel integrating the touch sensor array.

This way both sides would be touch-sensitive and when you close it the handset becomes a classic full multi-touchscreen beloved iPhone.

How would you use it?

To dial a number you draw it on the trackpad or the rotational dial may appear on the screen so you would rotate it sliding your finger on the trackpad.

When open, the transparent unit should display the T9 keypad with other symbols, and this can be done by polarizing the number and symbol markings seen only when the trackpad is open.

Another cool feature is that both units can be kept touch-active and you could enable the 3D gestures: the XY axis would be on the one side and the Z on the other.

There are many interpretations for this patent but we’d better wait for some public statements from Apple which we hope they’ll come out in the near future.

Nokia vs iPhone

StatCounter, the invisible web tracking tool configured in web sites for tracking real-time traffic stats, published a report after gathering statistic information about the number of Internet users surfing from their mobile device, and took into account the two of the world’s most popular cell phone brands: iPhone and Nokia.

This research had a sample of 371 million page views globally, from which 71 million were coming from US and 14 million from UK, during December 7 - March 8.

The results show that iPhone is a leader in the US while in UK Nokia is considered the most popular mobile Internet browser, followed by iPhone.

Now let’s see these statistics in detail!

In March, the famous iPhone took 0.06% of the total Internet browser market in the UK, while Nokia had 0.15%, and in other words, iPhone has three times the Internet browser market share of BlackBerry in UK, which has 0.02%.

Sony Ericsson has 0.01% of the UK market and iPhone with iTouch have 0.9% of the UK market, all these in March.

On the US front, iPhone leads with 0.18% of the market while Nokia has only 0.01%.

But if we look at the global statistics StatCounter shows that Nokia is the number one with 0.25% in March and the iPhone comes immediately after, with 0.06%.

“It would appear that iPhone is more than living up to its claims of being a user friendly Internet browser, unlike many other mobile phones,” said Aodhan Cullen, founder and CEO of StatCounter.

There is a rumor announcing a new LG phone model called Glimmer by LG, coming in an elegant slider design covered by a durable metal layer, and showing a large 2.8-inch TFT touch-sensitive display with 262K colors.

The rumor says the model will come with a built-in 2MP camera with flash and camcorder function.

It features auto screen and key lock protection, touch key vibration and an unobtrusive internal antenna, while being equipped with multimedia applications and features including music player with equalizer, MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ support, background music mode that allows you to use other applications and listen to the music in the same time, playlist management, a stereo sound when using a headset, 3D graphics for games, Airplane Mode, and an 128MB extendable memory up to 4GB via a microSD card.

Glimmer by LG supports USB Mass Storage for transferring all your important data from the microSD to the personal computer.

NTT DoCoMo will offer a new mobile handset made by Panasonic, with 1seg, Japan’s mobile terrestrial digital audio/video and data broadcasting service.

I have never explained you what 1seg means so I’ll tell you now.

In Japan, the terrestrial digital broadcast has each channel divided in 13 segements from which 12 are with HDTV broadcast and the last one, called 1seg, is for mobile receivers using H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video and HE-AAC audio included in the MPEG-2 Transport Stream.

It has 416 kbit/s rate, 320 x 240 pixels video resolution, 220-320 kbit/s video bit rate, and 48-64kbit/s audio bit rate, while the remaining 10-100kbit/s is the additional data broadcasting.
As the receiver device manufacturers have their own recording limits, some receivers permit the recording of 1seg broadcasts to the internal memory forbidding the moving or copying to a miniSD external memory card.

Panasonic P905iTV is the first 1seg mobile TV phone capable of 30 frames per second high quality imaging.

It has a 3.5-inch full wide LTPS TFT VGA display with 262,144 colors, mixing the VIERA large and flat screen concept with the high quality picture technologies, Mobile PEAKS PROCESSORTM and Mobile Double Contrast AI, which enable a 4000:1 contrast ratio.

It is very hard to make myself understandable for the other person I am talking to on the cell phone, when I am in the middle of a crowd or in a large shopping center during the reductions season, so I had to hide in a bathroom or some similar quiet place.

As I could do nothing about that I stopped using the phone in such crowded places.

Yesterday though I found out about a new technology embedded into cell phones, called SoliCall Mobile, which seemed to bring the solution to my problem.

Nuance, a leader in the speech and imaging solutions industry, announced the new mobile phone with its speech recognition capability under the name Tempo E2000, made by Kyocera Wireless.

This cell phone is currently available at the wireless carrier MetroPCS with the other countries to receive it soon.

The features which Tempo E2000 comes with include video on demand, a built-in 1.3MP camera with video recorder, microSD slot for up to 2GB memory, and up to 3.5 hours of talk time.

Samsung G810 with Geo Tagging

At Mobile World Congress this year were announced several cell phone models running on Symbian operating system with Nokia’s S60 software, and besides Nokia phones presented there is also the Samsung G810 Titan Silver slider.

S60 works with Symbian OS is flexible this allowing manufacturers to adopt different hardware constructions and software configurations. The user interface was awarded for its support for the newest Smartphones and mobile services.

Samsung G810 supports 2G and 3G networks, delivering up to 3.6Mbps transfer speeds.

You can expect it to come out on the market this spring, while additional details will be published after the Mobile World Congress 2008.

I don’t know if this would match the Coco Chanel style and trends design ideas but if it wouldn’t be accepted there someone else would surely be proud to see this phone wearing its brand.

This phone here is based only on the future technology including the design and would function with the integration of an optical fiber system enabling the image displaying between two glass pieces.

It contains twelve micro lighter fibers which are in charge with sending the image components on the glass enabling the right amount of light that would appear just when the phone is open and the removable part is pushed on the side.

It’s hard to imagine such a phone in real but who knows…maybe after 135 years….

The fact that Nokia has just introduced the E51 cell phone version with no camera is good news.
I can tell you from my experience that the pictures are no good and its built-in 2MP camera captures worse than a 1.3MP phone.

The bad news here is that the camera-free E51 is more expensive than the standard version of this phone, having a starting price of $368, with about $30 more.

Samsung D880 Duos with Dual SIM Broke out from Russia

Well, it seems that the Samsung D880 Duos is not that expensive after all.

After the launch in Russia last year, the model was imported in other countries and the price is of around $500, and not $1,080 as it was announced for Russia.

For example the phone can be found in European countries at a few small mobile phone stores others than those known by most of the people, where you can find also phone accessories.

It is a cell phone with lots of features starting of course with the Dual SIM functionality and ending, if you like, with the built-in 3.15MP camera which captures pictures at a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, can record videos and has autofocus and flash capabilities.

I, for example, am not too interested in the camera functionality and, as many of you, would need an Internet browsing capability, e-mail function, FM radio and document viewer.

This phone has these too, and besides them it comes also with a business card reader application, voice memo, handsfree, TV out as the recent Samsung phone models, Java MIDP 2.0, and supports MP3, AAC+ and MPEG4 playing.

The phone works on GSM 900/1800/1900 networks only, has no 3G or HSCSD, but it supports GPRS Class 10 at 32-48 kbps and EDGE Class 10 with 236.8 kbps transfer speed.

There is also no WLAN support but Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0 connectivity options.
In case you need more memory you can insert a microSD (TransFlash) card.

Samsung D880 Duos has a design very similar with the D600 slider, having a 2.3-inch TFT display with 140 x 320 pixels resolution and 356K colors, and a Li-Ion battery of 1200mAh which should last for about 4 days in stand by and talking, although a few owners of this model have complained about the battery to be lasting maximum 2 days.

The cell phone has a weight of 113 grams and measures 104 x 51 x 18.9 mm.

Its Dual SIM functions is working well but some encountered limitations with the SIM card set as Slave (secondary), being able only to send and receive SMS and make/receive phone calls, while the Primary SIM allowed them to access all phone’s functions.

Two new cell phones with radio function were just released by Sony Ericsson with AM/FM combination and these are: Sony Ericsson R300 and R306.

India hosted the launching of the two new entry-level cell phones with radio-inspired design and two shaped available: a candy bar and a clamshell.

R300 and R306 are featuring dedicated radio speakers with preset channel buttons, a 3D loud sound with volume boost for the noisy areas, and the possibility to record audio clips or the final minutes of a match and set the first one as a ringtone.

The TrackID lets you find out who sings the songs you recorded in a coffee shop and the track name plus the album title, and all this with only one click.

Sony Ericsson T270 and T280 are the latest phones released by the company as two affordable mobile companions designed to keep you up to date with the fashion and meet your business demands.

Both come in a stylish brushed light metal finish with navigation key and shortcuts, picture wallpaper and wallpaper animation.

They let you listen to the FM radio, use MP3 ringtones and browse the xHTML, as well as Bluetooth connectivity and two color combinations: silver on black and copper on silver.

They weight 82 grams and measure 100 x 45 x 13 mm having a nice 1.7-inch TFT display of 65, 536 colors and a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels.

The phones have a memory space of 10MB and a battery life of up to seven hour in working time. Sony Ericsson T280 has a plus, a built-in camera of 1.3MP and 4x digital zooming capability, and both models will be available on the market starting Q1.

Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism

After the Nokia Prism collection launched last summer the company now added the Crystal Prism version of Nokia 7900, with more design enhancements and a diamond-cut finish.

The Crystal Prism 7900 keeps the geometrical shape of a prism and has a nice crystal centre key, an original idea coming from the designer Frederique Daubal who added wallpapers inspired by light’s reflexion and the angular shape of prisms and triangles.

The phone which will have a retail price of 375 Euros starting Q1 2008 is covered by an aluminum housing and besides this unique design with customizable light colors, features a large OLED display, a built-in 2MP camera, the 3G technology, no less than 1GB of internal memory and a great music player.

Nokia 1209 with Multiple Phone Book

Another cell phone announced by Nokia is Nokia 1209, a simple model with useful functions as the Nokia 2600 previously described, but with a later releasing date set for Q2 of this year and a lower price of about $52.

As recent Nokia statistics showed, people like sharing and so the new Nokia 1209 brings specific features for people’s needs such as a pre-paid tracker, a cost-tracking application, and multiple phone book to let you store your contacts but also your other family members’ friends, totalizing 200 numbers on the same handheld.

It is an entry-level cell phone, with a very friendly menu, an intuitive interface, dust resistant design and 80 language options, while the system is a dual band (EGSM900/1800) with up to seven hours of work time, a standard display with 96 x 68 pixels resolution and 65K colors and 78.95 grams weight.

The built-in flash light is lighten up with one press key, same input as for the SMS, calendar and phone book.

If it is the first time you are buying a cell phone, this model would be the perfect choice based on the fact that Nokia phones have the friendliest interface and you may choose between Midnight Blue and Shell Grey colors for the housing.

New Nokia 2600 Entry Level Handset

Nokia has released two new cell phones categorized as entry-level models and one of them is Nokia 2600 classic, a low-cost phone retailing at a price of just $96.

Besides offering base useful features of a common cell phone, the slim Nokia 2600 lets you customize it with colored changeable Xpress-on covers and lots of MP3 ringtones.

Among the features we encounter an FM radio, GPRS, e-mail, Bluetooth and VGA built-in camera.

You can capture pictures at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and save them in JPEG format, or capture videos in H.263 and MPEG-4.

It works on dual-band networks (EGSM900/1800, GSM850/1900), provides up to six hours in working time and is available in Midnight Blue, Sunset range, Sandy Gold and Sky Blue colors.

X Plate Cell Phone with PIM Card

X Plate is a new phone available in Asia, manufactured by SII and distributed by Willcom, with Willcom-Optimized Adaptive Modulation.

The phone uses a PIM card type which allows you to change the phone model without replacing your phone number or losing all the data stored in the phone’s memory.

X Plate is an entry-level handset that measures 47.3 x 110 x 11.5 mm, weighting 64 grams and with a calling time of up to 2.5 hours with tabletop recharging and 5.5 hours is used inpublic mode and public service areas.

The main LCD display is of 1.8 inches and has a resolution of 160 x 128 pixels capable of 65,536 colors.

It supports the e-mail function but doesn’t support Internet browsing, music player or handsfree.

Toshiba Portege G450 3in1 Handset

Toshiba Portege G450 is not only a cell phone, it a 3-in-1 device integrating a cell phone, an MP3 player ad USB HSDPA modem in one unit.

It doesn’t use a standard keyboard and doesn’t bring the ergonomics of a QWERTY either, but it uses an unconventional keypad for user input and shows an OLED display with 96 x 36 pixels resolution.

It is designed as a cool accessory for people that want to feel different than the others but I would say Toshiba made it to be just more practical.

With the tri band (GSM 900/1800/1900/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA 3.6 Mbps), G450 you can talk or listen to music for up to three hours and you also have the possibility to choose between three color options: black, white and red.

It uses the Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset, has 160MB of memory, the USB mini interface, and measures 98×36×16 mm.

The handset is available at about $290 in European countries.

Nokia N95 8GB - World’s First DLNA Certified Cell Phone
